Our colleagues at Chevrolet published some great statistics last month, showing that Volt owners in the US have collectively saved a supertanker of petrol since the electric car with extended range went on sale. Between them, they have racked up 40 million miles (64.3 million kilometres) on electricity and avoided the use of more than 2.1 million gallons (7,949,364.75 litres) of petrol.
